Wikipedia emerged to one of the largest and most used online encyclopedias. With over 33 million articles in over 280 languages, it provides users with almost any information they need. Our task now was to compare an English Wikipedia article with a German one in order to find differences and similarities. The article we chose was the article about James Joyce´s Ulysses. Analyzing disparities of Wikipedia articles in different language versions: What’s different and why?

The task of our university seminar was to compare two Wikipedia (WP) articles about the same topic, but of different languages, concerning site content, structure and activity. While looking for a topic I found out that very often there is a difference in the size of articles concerning their content, which turned out to be mostly language-based.
